If this is their idea of a Christmas movie…
Writer Steven E. de Souza settled one of the most controversial topics of our lifetime: Is “Die Hard” a Christmas movie?
Responding to a question on Twitter, de Souza confirmed that the Bruce Willis movie about terrorism and kidnapping — all the family favorites — is, in fact, a holiday flick.
“DH is about love, devotion, sacrifice, generosity, and resisting evil — how could it not be a Christmas movie?” one fan wrote.
“Plus a woman about to give birth features prominently,” de Souza responded.
He also joked that the network “rejected the Purim draft,” using the hashtag “Die Hard Is A Christmas Movie.”
De Souza’s vote opposes a recent YouGov poll in which only 31% of respondents said a movie that takes place during Christmas but isn’t about the holiday can be a Christmas movie.
That classification is typically reserved for movies like “Home Alone,” “Elf,” “A Christmas Story” and “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
