A fight over a fender-bender in Brooklyn left one man dead Thursday and another in police custody, cops said.
A 65-year-old man was shopping at Costco on Second Ave. near 37th St. in Sunset Park Thursday night, when an electrical company van, driven by a 55-year-old man, struck his car in the parking lot and drove off, cop sources said.
The older man hopped in his vehicle and gave chase. He caught up with the van on Third Ave. by 65th St. in Bay Ridge shortly after 9 p.m., sources said. He got out and confronted the other driver, who struck him and dragged him two blocks, cops said.
Witnesses said another motorist in a grey minivan cut in front of him to stop him.
“Someone was screaming over there, ‘You killed the guy! Stop the car!’” said Sammy Parmar, 47, who owns a deli near the scene. “I ran over there and I see that the guy is underneath the wheel. He was totally dead.”
The Good Samaritan motorist grabbed the van driver, held him down, and yelled, “What did you do?” said witness Malook Khaskhali, 18.
Firefighters from the nearby Engine 241 and Ladder 109 lifted the van off the victim.
“There was a lot of blood. It was crazy. It’s a scene that’s stuck in my head. It’s just blood everywhere,” Khaskhali said.
Medics took the victim to NYU Langone Hospital, where he died.
Police took the van’ s driver into custody for questioning, and charges against him are pending.
